Full Page Splashes (Hubspot)

Full Page Splashes, orphan pages, or marketing landing pages are isolated pages within our website's architecture that are not linked from the homepage and should be used sparingly and strategically. These pages exist outside of our website's primary navigation and can inadvertently disrupt a user's browsing experience. As a rule, these pages should only be created in specific scenarios - such as part of a well-defined marketing campaign with a predetermined lifespan.

Checklist:

Before implementing a Full Page Splash, ensure all of the following criteria are met:

  • The page is directly tied to a specific marketing campaign. #checklist
  • The page has a limited lifespan with a clearly established takedown date. #checklist
  • The page is structured within the Sitecore folder, specifically under Parent of Main Branch/features. #checklist
  • The content is succinct enough to fit on a single page without overwhelming the user. #checklist
  • The content is not intended to be organically discovered from the main site, and does not contribute to the overall SEO strategy. #checklist
  • All intended conversion points are a single click away. → Buy, Register, etc... #checklist
  • Contacted the Analytics team in EDS to provide the user flow funneling that should be tracked and the defined markers for success. #checklist

Additional Considerations:

  • Assess the potential impact on user experience. Ensure that the Full Page Splash aligns with the user journey and does not disrupt it. #checklist
  • Review the content strategy to ensure that the Full Page Splash complements it, rather than creating dissonance. #checklist
  • Evaluate the necessity of a Full Page Splash versus incorporating the content into the existing site structure. #checklist
  • Plan for future content updates or potential expansions. Will this information always be relevant as a standalone page or should it be integrated into the main site later? #checklist

By sticking to these guidelines, we can maintain a cohesive, user-friendly, and purposeful website that aligns with our overall content strategy.

Future Proposal

There might be strategically valuable reasons to hook our Landing Pages being hosted on our email service so we could gain benefits of technology isolation, and built in Analytics.
