Bulk Conversion Script Process
Script Process
- Change page layout to ArchesMainView or Arches variation Template (Article...)
- Change legacy components to Arches components using the master component mapping document as reference.
Content Remediation (After sprint A audit of style and script blocks)
- Remove the following from rich text and custom script content:
- External stylesheet links
- External JavaScript links
- Style blocks
- JavaScript blocks
- In-line styles
- In-line JavaScript calls
- Check converted pages (within reason) and adjust clean up script as needed if content gets mangled.
Observations & Notes:
Batch 1:
- Debugged a content block that used an incorrectly spelled tag. This broke the page post conversion and evaded the style blocks removal script. The clean up scripts will be adapted to this typo so future instances should be caught and removed but verify as needed.
- Verify the scripts run clean. Special characters, for example, may still cause the automation to stop or manipulate code incorrectly.
- Alter template to Arches
- Run component swap from Mapping of Converted Components
- ‘RichText’ and ‘CustomScript’ clean up.
- Run scripted remediation Remediation
IMPORTANT NOTE: To ensure content is NOT auto-published, there is a need to explore options.
1. Option 1: Set content items to a DRAFT status when converting content in Author. See Sitecore DRAFT workflow doc here. Possible risk is the Original Posted Date may be updated as a result (need confirmation)
2. Option 2???
